How can I make a post where my main picture shows up as a full size picture and not the small sized pic that usually shows up next to the postt title?

Eh, luck of the draw. If someone's around they might enlarge it.

It's good that everything's not maximized initially though, that would make Oppo too picture heavy for my liking. Too much scrooling.

When Kinja first rolled out, all pictures were like that. It was glorious, and I think it made people work harder on their posts. But then they migrated it back to a format that was basically like it was before Kinja. As Braking Bad said, the mods have the power to embiggen a picture. So you just have to hope that your post catches their eye.

I can see that. But when I post pics and not gifs as the leading image I would prefer it to be larger.

It really depends on a mod being present at that time. I try to embiggen a lot of them. I also "recommend" it to let Opponaut know who embiggened it.
